A generation isn't a fixed level count. It's the depth to the next distributor who holds a qualifying rank. We build the traversal to walk the tree correctly regardless of how deep or shallow that boundary sits in any given branch.
Each generation typically carries its own payout percentage, and a distributor may earn from several generations at once once they hit a high enough rank. We compute every generation's share in one pass, with the exact rank-to-generation-count mapping your plan defines.
Because generation eligibility is tied to rank, a rank advancement can retroactively change which generations a distributor earns from starting the next cycle. We build rank-change handling explicitly, so an advancement never silently under- or over-pays the following commission run.
Distributors see which generations they currently qualify to earn from, and what advancing a rank would unlock, turning an abstract rule into a concrete, motivating number on their own dashboard.

A level is a fixed depth, level 3 is always three positions down. A generation is bounded by rank: it ends wherever the next qualified-rank distributor sits, which can be one position down or ten. That's the core difference the commission engine has to account for.
We recalculate generation eligibility at defined cycle boundaries, not continuously mid-run, and make that cutover explicit, so a rank change takes effect predictably rather than mutating an in-progress commission calculation.
Yes. Typically, higher ranks usually unlock more generations of override commission simultaneously. We implement whatever generation count your rank table specifies, with every generation's contribution shown separately on the payout record.
